How to spend 10.000€ on New Media equipment.
The title embeds the question: how can one spend this amount of money? Everybody would admit, that it seems easy at first. The ideas what one could do with that kind of money gush out of ones mind immediately. But hold on! One should use the money wisely, in order to give the students the biggest and best benefits and learning possibilities with the new purchased equipment. It should be useable for every grade and in case one buys computers, there should be enough, though the teacher is able to use them productively in class. One has to take into consideration, that media should last at least for 5 years and has to provide an immense range of learning variety and be actually helpful to the teachers and not in terms of extra hours. Elder teachers need to be able to learn how to handle the new equipment and being able to make use of the possibilities. Otherwise the equipment will just sit around and collect dust.
So, what would be a good idea to buy? According to which criteria? I have mentioned some above, but want to structure them better, so that one can check the box, whenever you might be in that situation:

10.000€ is not a big amount of money, if you think about equpping a school with New Media device. Therefore, I would choose the following equipment:

In the end one still has 550€ for repairs. And if one calculates realisticly, the beamers and notebooks can be bought cheaper. The printers are multitask printers, which means, that one is able to scan documents with it. This can be helpful, because students can safe their writing or drawings and share them with their fellow students.
The main equipment that fascinated me the most at the Martin-Luther Schule was the Multimedia-Unit, which I would try to create and build with the devices I bought. This unit is really handy and is always ready to go. The teacher does not have to set up the system, which safes time.
I do not have to buy memory sticks, because they just get stolen, lost somewhere or forgotten at home. Therefore, I would set up a dropbox account for every student in my class. This enables the student to share documents or files with his or her fellow students and the teacher. The student is able to safe his or her data and access it at home or any other place at any time as well. Each student can safe up to 2GB of data immediately. It is also possible to gain extra space up to 8GB by inviting other people. A drawback is, that the data is in the internet and therefore can get lost or maybe hacked.
