My experiences with the new tools
Delicious
bookmarking is just like a program I used to work with, that searches for
websites of your interests in the web. This program is called ”stumbleupon”. So,
the concept of the website Delicious became clear to me quite fast. It seems
helpful and I already added some interesting sources and websites to it. The
navigation and the adding of new websites is really easy, what makes it even
better to use. It is good, that one has a platform, where all your
findings and ideas can be saved. And even better is, that this database is accessible from
anywhere. And that is what makes it so useful for teaching in school. The students can bookmark their research and are able to do further work at home or vice versa. Further advantagees are the possibility to share good websites with your fellow students or that eachers can provide some helpful links for his students. I probably will use this database, when I’m starting my research and
work as a teacher. (image source: http://www.dernachrichtenverteiler.de/image/delicious.jpg)

First I
hesitated using twitter, because I did not want to became a part of this new
media hype. I could not see the use of sending out short messages for everybody
to read. But as I got to know it and if one follows the important and
interesting people, one is only presented with quite useful informations, which
are also very easy to access, through one mouse click. So it turned out, that
twitter can be useful as well. But I would not use it for educational work. The benefits of fast and easy communication do not outbalance the drawbacks of limited space, characters and content. (image source: http://www.razzil.com/images/twitter-logo.png)

The best of the websites we got to know so far is netvibes. I started to use it regularly and added many more feeds and widgets, which help me begging up to date. Now I can have many different information, logically structured the way I like it, and on one site alone. I do not have to click through all the websites I used to go for one information. Now I can read them all at once on my starting page. That is really helpful. And the possibility to structure and group them individually makes it really handy. This is one of the websites I will recommend to students, because it helps structuring all the personal and individual information to one page. The students are free to creat, design and layout their page, but should have some rss- readers and other relevant adds that give them a good overview of the news ,weather, sports results and the school blog for example. That way pupils can learn how to structure all their necessary informations to one page. And that might also help them to limit the overall time on the internet, because they could access all the important information faster.
